Chapter Philanthropy

We are fortunate enough to have a national philanthropy as wonderful as Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. Our chapter is even more fortunate to have a Children's Hospital only 40 minutes away from campus. Once every other week, Gamma Sigma sends 5 girls to the Children's Hospital in Macon to spend time with the kids doing different crafts that have included, making super hero masks, foam door hangers, or anything else that can brighten their day. All of the fundraising that Gamma Sigma collects goes straight to the Children's Hospital in Macon. It is incredible to see where our money goes, especially when we get to see the kids whose lives are changed by it. Throughout the semester, we have Spirit Nights at local restaurants in Milledgeville for example, Chick-Fil-A, Zaxbys, Gringos, Sweet Treats and Stacked. We host an annual 5K FTKolor Run and a hot dog eating contest, and this year was our First Annual Bonnamu Festival.  We also have full chapter support each year at Dance Marathon where last year, Phi Mu personally raised $36,440.77 and we plan to increase that number each year. Our focus is not solely on the number but the power of one organization coming together under one cause. We also have two other philanthropies which include the Julia Tarter Foundation and the M3 Foundation. Julia Tarter was a past member of our chapter who passed away. Each year we partner with her family and host a dance/lip-sync battle in honor of her to raise money for a scholarship dedicated to her. The M3 foundation is where each member donates $18.52 per year to help other Phi Mu sisters in need. We once were able to help rebuild a chapter member's home that was damaged by fire. We are so lucky to be so hands-on with our three philanthropies here at GCSU.
